In this interview excerpt, New Wealth Coach for Ladies Linda P. Jones and Jupiter Midas Effect 2 host Lissa Boles discuss ways to grow wealth with purpose, one of the keys to benefiting from, and even leveraging, the now chaotic conditions.
Lissa Boles: Could you tell folks in 10 minutes or less, no pressure, your story? Like where did this come from for you and what woke you up to “Oh, that's what I am doing.”
Linda Jones: Wow! Well, in many ways it's been a considerable time coming and in a lot of ways, it had been extremely fast but my story briefly is that I always wished to know how wealth was made. I was intrigued by this as a kid, it became sort of a life-long question “How did folks grow wealth?” And I read all of these books about millionaires and got into the investment industry and turned into a certified finance planner, did all of the study around it and spent a lot of time finding out how wealth really grows and then through following an 8-step process that I identified most millionaires followed, I turned into a millionaire at 38.
And then just actually started spotting cycles and bubbles and all sorts of things that were going down but it wasn't till my hubby passed away in 2005 that I actually got the message that I was not living my life’s purpose. I mean I heard that from the universe. And I didn't know exactly what that meant but I heard that I was intended to be teaching folks what I knew.
And also after the finance crisis of 2008, I started looking into what really happened in the economy and it led me to becoming more knowledgeable about cycles and seeing how actually heavenly movements impact our monetary system, our stock exchange, all types of things. There’s over 4,200 cycles that actually impact what is happening on Earth. And so when I put that along with investing and what I saw with investment cycles and the technology bubble we had and then the property bubble we had and then spotting we're in a new stage, a new cycle, the commodity cycle.
And it just all started to get together though it was revealed to me by the universe I feel in a very divine way where I was looking for for what I was meant to do and I was seeking for my life’s purpose and all these kept unfolding before me and being shown to me this is what’s truly going on, this is the genuine truth that you are not hearing about on TV or reading about in magazines. And this was what I was intended to teach folks.
I just had my first live event and taught people over 3 days everything that is occurring in the cycle and about money and everything we're going to be experiencing in the following couple of years.
Lissa Boles: Right. Why was it necessary to you to gain understanding about wealth? I know this came from your infancy, there’s an extra little piece, I think I remember. I know you are fascinated by it but why? Why were you — like why did you care? Why do you care now?
Linda Jones: Well, at the time I was the youngest of 5 children and we were in an exceedingly middle class home but were surrounded by folks that had plenty of cash. So I had friends that had enormous mansions on the water and yachts parked in front, and this interesting different lifestyle than what we had. And I just became fascinated. Why does that occur? How does that happen? And I would have liked to know how it worked. So I read Think and Grow Very Rich when I was just about 10 years of age. I was just intrigued by the whole notion of wealth and why a few people had it and other folks did not.
And some people have a large amount of it. Some people were billionaires and you know the engaging thing is if you look at billionaires like Debbi Fields or Martha Stewart, there’s only 10 self-made women. Billionaires out of 1100 billionaires BTW. When you look at Debbi Fields or Martha Stewart and you know Debbi Fields was baking cookies. She bakes cookies to become a multi-millionaire. It was not something amazing that you have got to do. You don't have to have a billion-dollar idea. It may be something like being a caterer like Martha Stewart or baking cookies like Debbi Fields and you could become a multi-millionaire.
So I attempt to get people to realise how wealth essentially works, how wealth grows and I need more wealth for girls in the world.
Lissa Boles: Why?
Linda Jones: Like my job is for that. Well, I suspect the world will be a better place when more girls are rich. I believe ladies will make better calls from themselves.
Lissa Boles: All the gentlemen listening, please, I beg your pardon.
Linda Jones: Yeah, that isn't a slam in any way. That isn't a slam to men. But I think if ladies can come from an empowered place — you know if they can come from a place of doing things with the right inducement and for the best reason and in their own power, I think that's a nice thing. Also, a large amount of ladies are actually going to be the ones that have the cash and will have to understand how to handle cash because women live longer.
And me being a widow myself, I understood that. The average age of widowhood is only 56. And people do not understand the decisions they are going to need to be making and many ladies decide to give their power away to their partner or their finance counsellor and even if they are a really successful entrepreneur, they are still giving their power away.
Lissa Boles: Thanks for pronouncing that because one of the hallmark themes within the Jupiter Midas effect is freedom, liberty, sovereignty and continually, cause there is a 3-theme. There’s 3 opportunities repeated in different forms throughout the effect that are calls and reminders and even pushes to make claims our freedom, our sovereignty.
To take and embody, own, the power that wants to move through us and what I heard from you that day from the stage was so shocking in a great way that really landed with me because the Dalai Lama announced, western women would be responsible for saving the planet.
Linda Jones: Right, yes.
Lissa Boles: And in the West there are way more girls working and there are more female entrepreneurs in the pool than there are men. But the vast majority of us aren't actually owning our freedom and our sovereignty financially. Fair?
Linda Jones: Fair.
Lissa Boles: So what does it take? What does it require of us and what’s it got to do with foundation? Owning, embodying our private freedom when it comes to permitting ourselves to have increase financially.
Linda Jones: That’s a great question and you know it's so different than what I believed that it was going to be.
Lissa Boles: Say that again please.
Linda Jones: It is so unlike what I thought it was going to be.
Lissa Boles: Right.
Linda Jones: Because I’ll tell you when I actually started my business and I started thinking about the best way to teach folks around money and wealth building and religious elements that coincided with financial and the practical financial. I wanted to teach both because in the world that I came from, in the investment world, they did not address any religious principles, they did not address women’s intuition, they did not address faith or how religion is tied into money. They didn't talk of any relationship with that.
Lissa Boles: Yup.
Linda Jones: But the one thing that truly shocked me that I discovered about girls that I, again, hadn't got any idea in the monetary industry was that women have huge issues around feeling meriting and deserving of wealth. And thus the place I thought I was going to begin with teaching about money was not at all where I needed to start.
Lissa Boles: Oh, I know. It’s wild when you truly understand where some of the hot buttons are.
Linda Jones: Yup.
Lissa Boles: And the way in which that hinders somebody regardless of superb amounts of work, incredible commitment and intentionality, and hours of efforts that those 2 foundational pieces, if they're not tended to —
Linda Jones: Yes. And I also think that there’s something in our culture that doesn't address girls. In other words, the way that the finance industry attempts to teach girls about money is to teach it the same way as we teach men. And somehow they believe that wrapping it in pink is intending to make it for girls or something. But it does not work like that because we actually have different things — we have different talks we wish to be having around cash. And we have different. Concerns and we have different concerns.
